Credit & Fed Desk: October 15, 2026

Good morning. It's Thursday, October 15th, and you are listening to the Credit and Fed Desk.

Producer prices just posted their biggest jump since 2022. Final demand prices rose 1.3 percent in September, the largest monthly advance since March 2022. From a year ago, they're up 6.3 percent, the most since December 2022.

And the bond market rallied anyway.

The ten-year Treasury yield is around 5.07 percent this morning, in press quotes. Per CNBC, that's down almost 13 basis points. Yesterday, on the hot CPI, the ten-year spiked above 5.3 percent. By the close, it was back at 5.19. In between, money ran out of an AI and tech selloff and into the safety of Treasuries. CoreWeave's bonds fell to levels that typically signal distress. And the odds of an October rate hike went to about a coin flip, then faded.

Tonight at 10:30 Central, after this episode, Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh speaks in Bangkok.
