Week Five
League of Ordinary Gentlemen fantasy football newsletter
Week 5 knocked the second zero off the board.
Lock in fn took its first loss, which leaves Team Robottom as the last unbeaten team in the league and the only one with nothing to explain. The LOG card went 4-1, and the lone miss came from guessing the Jackmerius Tacktheritrix quarterback wrong. That moves the LOG prediction record to 12-7.
The games
Drake Maye scored 55.5, the top individual number of the week, and nearly covered the 59.9-point margin by himself. That was also the biggest margin of the week. Sutt-Dog's 149.3 would have beaten two of this week's winners. The schedule had other plans.
The closest game of Week 5 was decided by 22.8, which tells you how the rest of the card went. Jack walked in as the ESPN underdog and posted 212.5, the high score of the week. The Clique scored 189.7, the best losing score on the card, and has nothing to show for it except a nice number.
Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and 3 TDs on Monday night and still lost, 37-34 in overtime, when Bass hit from 45 for Buffalo. Lose the real game, win the fake one: Stafford's 46.0 carried Prestige. Lock in fn arrived 4-0 and left with 107.0 and a new column in the standings.
AINTS finally started the right quarterback and posted 96.5, the low score of the week. CeeDeez won by 40.4 without getting near its 150.54 projection. Turns out the quarterback was only one of the problems.
ESPN projected Size 154.00 to 152.00. Robottom scored 197.6, won by 52.8, and turned last week's Game of the Week into a catered event. Size is the fifth team to learn that 5-0 is not a rumor.
Power rankings
After Week 5900.4 PF, a 100.9-point lead on the field, and the last perfect record in the league. The rest of the league can keep negotiating with reality.
First loss, and 107.0 was the second-lowest score of the week. PF 751.7 against PA 738.9 says the 4-1 has been on a payment plan.
Won by 40.4 and moved up a spot. Goff is on bye this week, so enjoy the view while it lasts.
Up two spots on a Monday night quarterback. The reboot keeps shipping updates.
Second in PF at 799.5 and the 5 seed at 2-3. Points Matters. Wins matter more.
Scored 189.7 and lost. They would trade it for an ugly win at any price.
Biggest margin of the week and up two spots. The quarterback is doing the heavy lifting and the furniture moving.
High score of the week at 212.5 with Lamar Jackson on the bench at 0.0. The ankle can take its time.
Low score of the week, lowest PF in the league at 561.7, and still moved up a spot. Send a thank-you card to the team below.
Puka Nacua caught 17 passes on Monday night for 37.7, and Sutt-Dog still lost by 59.9. Highest PA in the league at 847.8, and the pizza spot is already holding its coat.
Crime blotter
AINTS dat a B Payola
Two zeros in the receiver room.
Started DJ Moore (ESPN status OUT, 0.0) and Brian Thomas Jr. (0.0) at WR and RB/WR. The best the bench had was Loveland at 3.9, nowhere near the 40.4-point margin. Nobody on the roster could flip it, which is its own kind of verdict.
Prestige Worldwide
Won the bidding war, lost the slot.
Claimed Roman Wilson for $1 on Sunday morning, dropped De'Von Achane to do it, and beat Lock in fn's $1 claim on the same player. Started Wilson at WR/TE. ESPN had him OUT, and he scored 0.0 while Terry McLaurin (12.2) sat. That is 12.2 points on the pine in a 39.8-point win, so this one gets written up as a misdemeanor.
Sutt-Dog
Wrong receiver, bad week to pick one.
Started Deebo Samuel Sr. (4.5). Emeka Egbuka (17.2) sat. The swap was worth 12.7 against a 59.9-point loss. It flips nothing, and it still made a blowout bigger.
Week 6
LOG picks · record 12-7ESPN projects Jack 127.14 to 109.09. Lamar Jackson is uncertain: he missed Week 5 with the ankle, Minter says he is "definitely doing better," Wednesday practice is a question, and Rapoport reports "some hope" he plays at Cleveland. Huntley went 24/32 for 201 yards and 2 TDs plus a sneak TD in Baltimore's 30-23 overtime win at Atlanta, and he scored 36.0 on Jack's bench, so the fallback is real. Saquon Barkley is also uncertain: the hamstring kept him out of the Eagles' 19-17 London loss to Jacksonville, their third straight loss, and Sirianni is only "hopeful" for Carolina. Sutt-Dog also starts LaPorta and the Bengals D/ST on bye, plus Deebo Samuel Sr. listed OUT. Jack has the Vikings D/ST on bye. Recheck both stars on Wednesday's injury report.
Closest projection on the board: Drake 134.70 to 117.46, a 17.24 gap. Prestige starts Ollie Gordon II on a Miami bye and Roman Wilson, still OUT. Yes, that Roman Wilson.
ESPN projects the Clique 128.07 to 107.23. CeeDeez starts Goff and Aaron Jones Sr., both on bye. The Clique has Malik Washington on a Miami bye.
The #2 seed visits the #1 seed, and they are the only two teams with more than three wins. ESPN projects Robottom 136.81 to 117.32, a 19.50 gap. Lock in fn starts Tee Higgins and Will Reichard, both on bye, so the kicker claimed for $1 last Wednesday is already on vacation. Robottom has its own holes: Evan McPherson is on the Cincinnati bye, and DeVonta Smith is OUT but still projected 14.6, with Sirianni "hopeful" he plays against Carolina. Lock in fn just learned what a loss feels like. Robottom has not, and the LOG pick is not volunteering to teach it.
Biggest gap on the card: Size projected 133.25 to 86.55, a 46.70 gap. AINTS starts Burrow on a Cincinnati bye and DJ Moore, OUT but still projected 13.5. The Crime blotter is saving a seat.
